The BSW will work predominantly in our specialist behaviour provision. The main purpose of the role is to support the work of teaching and senior staff to implement agreed work programmes with individuals or small groups, in and out of the classroom. In order to do this the successful candidate will need a driving licence, and able to drive the minibus or use their own car. You will support the class teacher in addressing pupil’s social, emotional and behaviour needed as well as supporting academic learning. You will need to establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model at all times. This role will include communication with parents/carers and external agencies.

The qualities we are looking for include:

Ability to relate well to children and adults and communicate at all levels

Ability to deal effectively with students presenting challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques as appropriate

Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team

Knowledge and experience of behaviour management and restorative strategies

Experience of working with secondary aged children

Experience of working with students with additional needs

Appropriate induction and CPD will be provided to the successful candidate.
