What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors of Brunswick Community Primary School are looking for a Buildings Supervisor to join our current staff team. The post is to start as soon as possible. The hours of work will be 37 hours per week for 52 weeks per year, the days of work are Monday to Friday worked as a split shift. The school does have a residential property available if the successful applicant wishes to be a resident Buildings Supervisor, this can be discussed at the interview stage.
Role and Responsibilities: ·
- Be responsible for unlocking/locking school premises during school hours and activating/deactivating security alarm systems as required.
- Undertake and record regular checks on play equipment, water testing, light testing alarm systems, ladders, and fire extinguishers using on-site Maintenance Record Books and report any problems arising on-site.
- Identify and report building, furniture, or fitting deficiencies to the Bursar / Head Teacher and undertake any remedial action. This may involve reporting emergency repairs to the appropriate person(s)
- Undertake a range of handyperson duties (i.e. those not requiring a qualified craftsperson) as directed by the School Business Manager / Head Teacher, that contribute to the maintenance of the school premises (e.g. remedial works, repairs to fittings and small-scale improvements, repairs to taps and cisterns, fitting shelves/ notice boards, etc).
- Liaise with contractors when they perform repairs/maintenance on the school premises.
- Take meter readings, including Gas and Electrical where required.
- Be responsible for general tidiness and safety of outside areas; Keep drains clear of obstructions.
- Always ensure safe pedestrian access, including keeping paths and entrances clear of leaves and moss and gritting and snow clearing during severe weather.
- Maintain staff and pupil toilet facilities ensuring they are in working order. Deal with blocked toilets and blocked drains.
- Set out/put away furniture for school events/breakfast clubs etc and undertake general porterage as required by the School Business Manager / Head Teacher.
- To assist the School Business Manager in monitoring and implementing controls for relevant budget headings.
- Undertake pool maintenance & monitoring
