Business Studies Teacher 0.8 FTE (Temporary) job summary
The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and committed Business Studies. You should be able to motivate and inspire students through outstanding practice in your teaching. This will involve 100% commitment to our vision which is captured in our strapline “High Expectations | Exceptional Individuals”. Business Studies is a popular option at both GCSE and A-Level.
The Curriculum
In Year 9, as part of our innovative approach to the curriculum, students have 1 hour per fortnight of Business Studies lessons.
In Years 10 and 11, with students being taught for 5 hours per fortnight, we offer Edexcel Business Studies.
Our A-Level course is based on 9 hours per fortnight and follows the Edexcel Business Studies specification. We also offer BTEC Business Studies to Sixth Form students.
Our Facilities
Our facilities are excellent; in additional to dedicated Business Studies classrooms, groups have timetabled access to well-equipped computer rooms. The school’s wireless network is very robust and a number of Sixth Form students bring their own devices with them. Students and staff also have remote access to the school’s network, their files and relevant software.
Living Here
Corfe Hills School is in a fabulous location within easy reach of Bournemouth and its beaches, Poole and its harbour, the Jurassic Coast and the Dorset countryside. The school serves the catchment area of Broadstone, Corfe Mullen and the wider area and we truly believe that all of our students are exceptional. Whilst the school was graded as “requires improvement” in November 2017, two years later, following 3 years of significant and sustained improvement, it has changed almost beyond recognition.
The 2019 GCSE results are exceptional with a Progress 8 score of +0.34 putting Corfe Hills in the top 20% of schools nationally and Progress 8 in Maths of +0.8 putting the results in the top 5% of schools nationally. In addition, Business Studies is consistently one of the top performing subjects in the school at both GCSE and A-level in terms of both attainment and progress.
