What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated Caretaker to join our team. We are looking for an individual who can work both independently and as part of a team
This post is integral to our school and plays an important role in enhancing the teaching and working environment for young people and staff.
Experience working in educational environments and an understanding of health & safety regulations, including CoSHH and risk assessments is desirable, but support and mentoring will be given to the suitable candidate. You will be responsible for the security, maintenance, cleanliness of the school premises and carrying out day to day repairs within the reasonable capacity of a normal handyperson. You will need a flexible approach to your working day, the ability to identify work priorities and manage your workload whilst ensuring that lower priority work is completed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security: Open up and lock up premises
- Maintenance: Minor and major repairs, DIY tasks
- Operations: Managing heating, lighting, and other facilities
- Safety: Conduct various safety checks including HASAW and COSHH
- Reporting: Identify and report major repair issues
- Contractor Management: Direct contractors on-site to their designated work areas
- Supplies: Ensure an adequate supply of toiletries on a daily basis
- Compliance: Conduct Water Hygiene Systems Monitoring and weekly fire alarm tests
- Inventory: Manage stock and supplies efficiently

Shifts, Monday to Friday: 7am to 11.00am subject to review. There is potential to increase the hours but will mean coming back for an evening shift.
