Caretaker job summary

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team. This crucial role involves taking pride in our school site and ensuring the smooth and compliant running of all facilities.

As a Caretaker at Cromer Junior School you will ensure that the school premises and contents are properly maintained, secure and ready for use, in addition to helping to ensure that the school is clean and tidy. The Caretaker also has the responsibility, under the direction of the Headteacher for the security of the school premises.

You will:

  • Have experience in a similar role or building maintenance
  • Possess good practical DIY skills
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work on your own initiative and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, staff, parents and contractors
  • Be physically fit enough to perform manual handling tasks and work at heights.
