Caretaker job summary

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

To ensure a clean, well-maintained and pleasant working environment in order to facilitate the effective use of the academy by those staff and students who occupy it.

To maintain the highest possible standard of hygiene and cleanliness in order to minimise health risks to students, staff and visitors.

To undertake routine day-to-day maintenance tasks and provide assistance in completing more complex buildings maintenance and development projects.

CARETAKING

1. Undertake routine site maintenance work; Plan, organise and complete a range of tasks including (but not limited to):

· Minor repairs to furniture and fixtures and minor decorating tasks:

· Assembly and fitting of shelves, cupboards and other fixtures and fittings

· Plumbing / heating / electrical basic maintenance and routine checks

2. Keep the whole site safe and accessible e.g. snow clearance, distribution of salt/grit, keep external areas and paths on the school site tidy and litter free;

3. Fetch and carry equipment, furniture and materials as requested;

4. Ensure that doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use;

5. Open up the building in the morning and lock it at the end of the day;

6. Open up the building and lock-up after lettings;

7. Help set up rooms for meetings/other events and clear away afterwards

Sunrise joined SENDAT Trust on 1st April 2022. It was previously called The Everitt Academy. It caters for up to 52 young people with a full EHCP for SEMH in Key Stages 3 and 4.

We are working with the LA to consider taking some Key Stage 2 students in the future.

As at Trust we are committed to trauma informed practice across all our schools and in all policies we work to. We have trained over 30 Level 5 practitioners and have an ongoing commitment to this. To support this work we have developed out TIS umbrella, which aims to show approaches and programmes that we use across the Trust under our overall TIS approach.
