Our aims are to enable all our learners to flourish and to open doors for their very best futures.

We genuinely seek to live by our values of Excellence, Belonging, Opportunity and Respect; these underpin how we work and how we relate to each other. We are a friendly trust that puts people first.

About the role

Filey CE Nursery & Infants Academy are looking to recruit a hard working Caretaker. This is a term time only position with two additional weeks to be worked during the school holidays. The hours for this role are 15 hours per week and will be worked Monday - Friday.

As a Caretaker, you will ensure that the school’s buildings and grounds are in proper working order, maintaining a safe working environment for all users of the facility. Carrying out minor repairs and reporting any faults which require specialist help, you will maintain the grounds and ensure the premises are clean and rubbish is collected. You will assist in the cleaning duties around the school buildings, if required.

The role also involves being responsible for the security of the buildings, carrying out security checks and ensuring all fire safety and health and safety regulations are adhered to.

Day to day responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: emptying waste bins, opening and locking the school, small DIY jobs around the school, maintaining the integrity of the school perimeters and buildings, updating relevant records. You will be working both inside and outside in the school grounds.

The job requirements

We are looking for someone who has good DIY skills and a knowledge of the basic maintenance required for school premises. With a good level of practical skills in areas such as buildings and grounds maintenance, manual handling techniques, safe use of power tools and electrical safety, you will also have an understanding of, and a commitment to, the safeguarding of children.

A flexible person who can work to deadlines, you will be able to communicate well with children, school staff, contractors and visitors.

Working with us

We also offer significant discounts on many high street shops, online retailers and travel agents, not to mention free car parking at all our schools, an enviable pension scheme, sick pay and family friendly policies.

All new starters with the Trust receive a thorough induction programme, followed by a programme of training which is essential to the role. But it doesn’t stop there, all staff receive development on an ongoing basis and we encourage the learning of new skills should you wish to develop your career with the Trust further.
