Caretaker job summary
Henley in Arden School are looking for a Caretaker to join our friendly school and provide an efficient support service to the school by assisting with the management of the school premises, ensuring a well-maintained, safe, clean, and secure environment.
Salary: Band B - Full time equivalent salary range: £22,737 to £23,500. Actual salary range for working 25 hours per week term time is £14,495 to £14,982 per annum
Hours of work: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 11:00am, Term time plus 4 weeks during school holidays (total 43 weeks per year)

The key responsibilities for this post are as follows (a comprehensive job description is available):
To be a key holder and on the response call list
Opening the school site and ensuring the site is safe and ready for users
To perform general daily cleaning duties in allocated areas, taking pride of cleaning standards
Utilise cleaning machinery, support to fellow cleaners during their shift and participate in litter picking and general tidying of the school grounds.
Operate our H&S online system to respond to work requests and to raise your own requests.
Attending to deliveries and distributing items to appropriate locations.
Keep records of the completed work literature or work sheets; share these with the Site Manager.
Undertake required Health and Safety training and any other relevant training for the role and ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and environmental standards
Qualities & Qualifications required (a full person specification is available):
A reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy, with a willingness to undergo future training and development
Ability to carry out manual handling and other physical tasks.
Good communication skills with the ability to talk with school staff, pupils, parents and contractors.
Basic understanding of IT
Basic knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation relative to the post
Experienced with maintenance or DIY work
