ABOUT US Springwell Learning Community is the umbrella name for Springwell Special Academy and Springwell Alternative Academy. Springwell Special Academy provides cross-phase education for Barnsley children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties SEMH. THE ROLE

We are seeking to recruit colleagues who require the flexibility offered by a casual contract. These colleagues will play an important role across our school providing both regular and ad hoc support for our pupils as well as providing cover for full time members of staff. As a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant, you will offer more than classroom support. You will make connections, develop relationships and lead our pupils on the path to a bright future. This will include working under the guidance of a teacher to support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day. This includes:

  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons

  • Supporting the children in class with reading, visual learning and messy play

  • Helping those who need extra support

  • Completing pupils record plans

THE CANDIDATE

  • Experience or interest in working with children/ young people with SEN / SEND/ SEMH needs

  • Ability to relate to children and younger people to build positive relationships

  • GCSE Maths and English or willing to work towards

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing to complete all safer recruitment checks in line with KCSiE

  • Casual staff will be required to attend appropriate training

  • Casual staff will be required to provide availability for a minimum of 2 weeks

  • Staff will be paid on the 15th of each month on receipt of submitted timesheet

  • Gaps of more than 3 months without working would result in termination of contract

  • Availability can be full or part time
