Job summary

Reporting to the Cook, you (and the other 2 Catering Assistants) will support with the preparation, cooking and serving of school meals for our students. You will also order and distribute items for student snacks and food technology lessons and ensure excellent standards of hygiene are maintained.

The team works closely with students, their class teams and our therapists in order to promote and encourage healthy eating and diversify the range of foods our students eat. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in promoting healthy eating and new experiences for our students.

The catering team are also responsible for ensuring that our food technology room is stocked and prepped for lessons which are a vital part of our life skills teaching.

If you have experience working in a similar environment and are excited to enhance our catering service for students we would love to hear from you. Previous school experience is not required.

For the posts advertised, you must:

• Be experienced preparing food and supporting cooking of meals
• Be experienced in stock control and ordering of produce
• Have excellent communication and team working skills
• Have a willingness to engage with students on various food related projects
• Be physically fit enough to transfer food and equipment on trolleys
