Pay Rate: £10.18 per hour (term-time only)

20 hours per week (negotiable), term time plus INSET (39 weeks).

As a centre, we typically have two weeks off at Christmas, two weeks off at Easter, 6 weeks off in the summer, and three half-term weeks off in October, February and May.

This is a fixed term contract for 1 year with the possibility of extending beyond this period for the right candidate.

We are pleased to announce the current opportunity for an experienced catering assistant to join the supportive and professional team at Stevenage ESC. As a provider catering for young people who have been excluded from mainstream schools, our core mission is to re-engage students with education and support their journey towards a successful future.

At our purpose-built, 5-star rated kitchen facility, the successful candidate will not only be responsible for preparing freshly cooked, nutritious meals on a daily basis, but they will also play a vital role in fostering a nurturing environment for our students. We recognise the profound impact that quality nutrition can have on student wellbeing and academic performance. Therefore, it is imperative that our culinary team upholds the highest standards of food preparation and hygiene, aligning with the values and commitment of our centre.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in catering, with a demonstrated ability to create diverse and appealing menus that cater to a variety of dietary requirements. In addition to culinary skills, we value teamwork, creativity, and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with students. Your role will extend beyond cooking; it will involve interaction with our students, which is essential in creating a positive atmosphere where they feel cared for and supported.

At Stevenage ESC, we pride ourselves on the commitment of our dedicated team of educational professionals, all of whom consistently place the needs and wellbeing of the students at the forefront of their work. While previous experience in a specialist setting is an advantage, preference will be given to the individual best suited to maintain our high standards and drive our mission forward.

The successful candidate will be expected to embody strong teamwork, demonstrate initiative, and uphold a confident, empathetic, and positive character within the Centre. Your contribution as a team player will be instrumental in ensuring the continued success and growth of our provision for the benefit of our students and the wider community.

If you believe you are the right candidate for this exceptional opportunity, we encourage you to apply and look forward to the possibility of you joining our team at Stevenage ESC.

Joining our team will allow you to make a significant difference in the lives of young individuals. If you are interested, we would be delighted to discuss the role further and explore how your experience aligns with our goals at Stevenage ESC.
