What skills and experience we're looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Manager to join our team!
37 hours per week, Term Time only (including 5 INSET days & 8 days in the school holidays)
As our Catering Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage a busy kitchen delivering a high-quality school catering service.
- Ensure that work is carried out hygienically, safely and tidily at all times within the prevailing legislative framework.
- Plan varied and nutritious menus in advance.
- Be responsible for the financial and administrative tasks associated with ordering food and sundries, including checking delivery notes and invoices.
- Ensure that policies and procedures with regard to health and safety and hygiene are understood by all kitchen staff and adhered to at all times.
- Ensure that the kitchen areas are kept clean and hygienic and kitchen equipment is maintained and used safely at all times.
We are looking for:
- Relevant experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience of managing or supervising a team.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths).
- Someone who is highly organised, personable and who enjoys working at pace.
- Enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate a team.

The Burgate School and Sixth Form converted to a Single Academy Trust in May 2011.
