Chief Executive Officer job summary
Birmingham Diocesan Multi Academy Trust (BDMAT) is committed to providing the best educational experiences for children and young people. Rooted in Christian values, we are focused on achieving excellent outcomes and creating environments where students can thrive in “life in all its fullness.”
We wish to appoint a Chief Executive Officer who will serve as the strategic leader of BDMAT, shaping the vision, values, and strategic direction of the Trust and its academies. Your mission will be to ensure that our schools consistently deliver good or better outcomes and maintain financial sustainability. This role requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record in school leadership, a deep understanding of school improvement systems, and the ability to manage complex partnerships across educational and community stakeholders. We are seeking for a CEO who can take our trust into its next strategic phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Guide the Trust’s strategic direction to grow the Trust further and ensure excellence in education and the sustainability of our schools.
- Vision & Values: Uphold and champion the Trust’s Christian ethos, inspiring our community to achieve ambitious educational goals.
- Partnership Management: Cultivate effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Department for Education, Local Authorities, Church of England in Birmingham, and others.
- Educational & Operational Leadership: Oversee teaching and learning standards across the Trust, ensure quality school improvement strategies, and manage resources to support continuous improvement.
- Finance & Compliance: Act as the Trust’s Accounting Officer, ensuring financial sustainability and adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- Professional Qualifications: Degree and professional teaching qualification essential; post-graduate educational or management qualifications desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a headship role with proven school improvement outcomes and experience in academies, governance, strategic planning, and budgetary management.
- Skills: In-depth knowledge of Ofsted criteria, resource management, data-driven strategic planning, and governance in an academy setting.
- Personal Qualities: Inspirational leader, committed to high standards, collaborative yet decisive, and capable of building a positive organisational culture.
- Faith Requirement: A practicing Christian, committed to supporting and promoting the Christian foundation of the Trust.
