Reporting to: The board of trustees of The Southfield Trust
The Southfield Trust is seeking an outstanding person to take on the role of CEO and to lead our mission to improve the educational outcomes and life chances for all of our pupils, students and their families. They will have the drive and ambition to ensure the continued success of the Trust and the vision and skills to lead its future evolution.
As CEO, the successful candidate will work closely with the Trustees and wider Trust leadership to develop and implement our Trust strategy, focussed on achieving the best possible outcomes for all our learners in each of our provisions.
The Southfield Trust comprises 4 highly successful special schools in Eastbourne, one of which has The Southfield Centre, a specialist facility to support the needs of pupils with complex medical needs. The Trust employs 325 staff and educates around 540 pupils from 3 to 19 across 6 sites in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
We are committed to inclusivity, lifelong learning and to ensuring that our learners are equipped to succeed at every stage from nursery to further education and into adult life.
The position requires a dynamic leader with the skills and expertise to network and effectively engage and inspire a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong people skills and the ability to articulate our vision are essential.
Our ideal candidate will have successful school leadership experience and a proven track record in leading outstanding provisions for children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. They should have a demonstrable experience of financial management and success in building effective partnerships and links with a range of organizations' including NHS services, Local Authorities and similar schools / trusts.
A strategic thinker with the ability to motivate others, the CEO will build and develop the Trust’s staff and provide leadership for our entire community creating a positive organisational culture that prioritises professional development, continuous improvement and career progression.

The Southfield Multi Academy Trust consists of four exceptional special schools which provide the best possible educational opportunities for all its learners and their families.
The South Downs and The Lindfield schools joined the Trust at its establishment in April of 2016 having worked closely together for a number of years. Hazel Court School was warmly welcomed into the Trust in September of 2018.
The Trust opened a new Free School: Summerdown School, in Eastbourne, in September 2022. The Trust now works across four schools and six sites in Eastbourne.
