CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER job summary
Our Trust is seeking a CEO. We are looking for a strategic leader who can demonstrate inspirational impactful leadership of our schools, communities and the MAT central team. Our growing MAT was established in 2016 and currently has ten schools with three in the process of due diligence and hopeful conversion. Several others are now expressing an interest following government announcements. Our MAT is now established and getting ready for the next phase of its development.
In order for the MAT to succeed our new leader will be aspirational for all pupils to achieve with all their natural gifts and for their chances to be as little inhibited by circumstance as possible. Our pupils come from a wide variety of communities and individual families. We wish for them all to be valued, know they are valued and be enabled to excel. The CEO will value collaborative working and continual professional development for all staff in order that we have a vibrant, valued, flexible staff community.
Our Trust seeks a leader with a strong understanding of education and finance, the need to plan and track finances and manage the financial risk, opportunities and landscape of a growing MAT. They should also be familiar with audit and risk in the Academy sector and the importance of active risk assessment and mitigation. All of these are necessary for the work of the MAT to succeed.
Our Trust’s vision is to establish a culture and context in which schools can grow and flourish and provide an excellent education with Christian values at its heart. We will seek to enable all children and young people in our schools to realise their God-given potential, aspire to exceed their expectations and to build Christ-centred communities.
As CEO you will be taking on the professional responsibilities of leading a charitable company with an annual revenue in excess of £20 million with accountability to both Trustees and Government. The position is for one day a week and you will be supported by our experienced full time Chief Operating Officer who oversees the day to day operational aspects of our Trust.
You will also be supported by our experienced Trust Board and will work in partnership with the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education and with our Headteachers and Governors, to develop our Trust and ensure that both the MAT as a whole and its individual schools consistently achieve strong outcomes for all their pupils.
Evidence of your ability to lead, enable and empower those around you will be key to your success and the ongoing success of our Trust. You will have good communication skills suited to the groups you are leading with clarity and openness to facilitate the work of the board. Our CEO needs to have a demonstrable and successful track record in school leadership and a clear understanding of the strategic and practical elements of growing a successful multi-academy trust and managing a significant revenue and expenditure stream.
