Chief Finance and Operations Officer job summary

St Thomas Catholic Academies Trust is a family of Catholic schools based in Luton, Central Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Slough.  Our clear mission and purpose is to provide outstanding Catholic education to all the children we serve. 

The Chief Finance and Operations Officer is a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team and will report directly to the Strategic Executive Leader.  The successful candidate will be accountable for all the strategic and tactical management of all operations aspects of trust including Finance, Estates, IT, HR and Compliance. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional senior professional to join our growing multi-academy trust.  Our successful candidate will be:

  • An experienced strategic thinker with experience of significant financial budgets, reporting, systems and cashflow.
  • Someone with the proven ability to learn about new sectors and apply relevant knowledge to achieve results. 
  • Someone with strong leadership and collegiate skills, working well as part of a team. 
  • An excellent communicator with interpersonal skills. 

As part of this role, you will need to visit our family of schools to ensure smooth operations across all our divisions, but your main office will be based in Luton/Houghton Regis and remote working may also be available on-site visit days.

The directors of St Thomas Catholic Academies Trust (STCAT), are seeking a new Chief Executive Officer (Strategic Executive Leader) to build upon the excellent foundations already in place.

STCAT was formed with eight schools in 2020, and the planned expectation is that three more Diocesan schools in Luton and Slough will join in the near future to form a Trust of twenty schools.
