How you’ll help us succeed

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for building, implementing, operating and supporting technological products/services for the Trust. You will act as both a technology and Trust expert, ensuring suitable technology architectures and resources are in place, and making decisions that will positively impact the current and future operations of the company and helping ensure it can achieve its goals.

Your current role, or recent roles, may be:

  • Working in an existing Education or Public Sector IT role
  • A CTO within the Education and/or Assessment sector


What you’ll bring

This role will suit an enthusiastic and passionate technology leader with a genuine desire to understand how technology can be used to help achieve Trust goals and help drive an organisation.

You’ll have a broad range of IT experience with familiarity across all IT disciplines, and specific experience of:

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams (made up of employed, contract and outsourced resources)
  • Managing IT budgets (operational and capital)
  • Track record in delivery, operations and support of complex ERP, SIS, LMS, web CMS, ecommerce, database & reporting solutions (multi-tiered, client-server, distributed, monolithic, service-orientated, and microservice application architectures)
  • Operating in a robust environment of methods, frameworks and standards, including: agile delivery, industry recognised architecture frameworks, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, ITIL, SOX, PCI, change and release management, high availability
  • Managing contracts, accounts and relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Implementing cloud technologies, platforms and services (AWS & Azure)
  • Network operations - load balancers, firewalls, intrusion detection/protection systems, Microsoft Active Directory services, DNS, Group Policy Management, web application firewalls
  • Application Development & Operations - Microsoft operating systems, Linux operating systems, IIS, Apache, SQL Server, MySQL, .Net, PHP, SCORM, LTI
