What skills and experience we're looking for
Ash Lea is a special school for children from 3-18 years old with severe and complex educational needs and is in Cotgrave. We aim to ‘Work together to be our best’.
Ash Lea School governors wish to recruit a permanent inspirational and authentic teacher to continue to drive the school’s growth and provide its pupils with excellent outcomes so that they can meet their aspirations for life after Ash Lea.
The successful candidate will be excellent classroom practitioner who has a child-centred and innovative approach to teaching and learning. They will be resilient enough to meet the multiple and ever-changing demands of working in a special school. They will have a thirst for learning and be able to engender this in the pupils and staff teams who they work with. Whilst experience of working in a special school setting is highly desirable, applications from candidates without this will be considered, particularly if they are passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and pupils who face barriers to their learning and have experience teaching developmentally early learners.
The role would be suitable for MPS or UPS teachers. The school is keen to recruit experienced teachers who have a track record of driving school improvement and leading teams, as well as those at earlier stages of their careers. Curricular leadership responsibilities will be allocated as part of this role. Areas of curricular strengths should be shared through the application process. Whilst the school is keen to ensure that staff work with their areas of strengths and interests, experience of working with high quality curriculum implementation for learners with complex or profound and multiple learning difficulties are desirable and/or experience of championing equality, diversity and inclusion. Early career teachers may be considered if they are exceptional candidates.
What the school offers its staff
You will be supported with your personal and professional development by a school passionate about continuous learning and growth.
Commitment to safeguarding
This authority and the school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will require the successful applicant to undertake an ENHANCED criminal record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
