What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an innovative, creative and enthusiastic teacher to join the Yew Tree family. We are a friendly three-form entry primary school with a nursery class. We are looking for a committed teacher, capable of providing high quality teaching, to join a supportive team of staff who passionately believe in providing the best education for our children.

We are looking for experienced teacher (MPS or UPS) in order to complement and grow our teaching team. This post would initially be based in our Nursery (AM) class, job sharing with another colleague, but also include some teaching in our Reception class and our Hive SEND intervention space. However, as we do each year, future deployment would be discussed with selected candidates.

The school provides a high quality of education for its children and has many exemplary aspects of provision. We want to ensure we recruit a candidate who will support us in our drive to be the best school around. Unfortunately, on this occasion, we are not looking for an Early Career Teacher (ECT).

We are interested in hearing from individuals with a range of talents, experiences and skills which will offer something unique to our school community. Teaching at Yew Tree is more than a job; It is being a part of our family – our community!

We want to meet candidates who think they have something to offer Yew Tree and who can support us in securing our drive for the highest possible standards at the school. We believe children get one chance at education so we want somebody who is relentless in their desire to provide the best for the children in our care.

We are looking for somebody who is:

  • Passionate about education (especially EYFS).
  • Confident and up-to-date with curriculum & assessment strategies.
  • Able to create an exciting learning environment for our children.
  • Capable of delivering an outstanding quality of teaching.
  • Committed to developing every child regardless of needs.
  • Able to meet the differing needs of children in their class and knowledge of a range of special educational needs & disabilities.
  • Committed to working closely with the school community.
  • Willing to work as part of a team.
  • Able to foster and develop a caring ethos.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • A supportive environment in which relationships are nurtured and valued
  • A dedicated, friendly and passionate staff
  • A commitment to continued professional development
  • A commitment to high standards and continual improvement
  • Enthusiastic and caring children who work hard
  • Modern facilities and extensive grounds to inspire learning
  • Access to extensive IT facilities (inc. the use of individual staff devices)
  • Access to coaching and mentoring from a strong senior leadership team
  • A strong commitment to staff well-being including free access to a range of services through an Employee Assistance Programme

Further information about the job

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
Visas cannot be sponsored.
If you're interested in teaching or training to teach in England as an international citizen, we can help you understand your next steps.

Commitment to safeguarding

Yew Tree Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects its entire staff to share this commitment. This includes compliance with all aspects of the Equality Act and including support of the protected characteristics.

All post-holders will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), including a Children’s Barred List check for post carrying out a regulated activity. Any posts are subject to approval of two references and subject to any necessary safeguarding checks (including online candidate searches).
