Start Date: 24 August 2022
We are seeking to permanently appoint a full-time successful, inspirational and dynamic Teacher and SENCO at St Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy. You will need to have high aspirations, drive, ambition and be able to work collaboratively.
We are looking for a SENCO to develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEN strategy and policy. You will carry out assessments of pupils with SEN to identify needs and monitor progress - including observations in the classroom and meeting with teachers and parents/carers. You will work with classroom teachers, the school leadership team, parents and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor individual support/learning plans. Make referrals and liaise with professionals outside of the school - this could include psychologists, health and social care providers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.
You'll need to have a strong commitment to raising educational attainment for children and young people with SEN, including working with pupils directly and supporting other staff to do so. You will have good leadership skills to inspire and motivate other teachers, model good practice, and develop a whole school commitment to supporting pupils with SEN. You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills - for building relationships with parents, teachers, and external professionals, writing learning and support plans, reports on pupil progress, and training and guidance for staff.
Desirable: SENCO National Award. Training can be provided.
We will offer the successful applicants a happy, welcoming and supportive team where everyone is committed to staff development and raising standards for all in an enjoyable and purposeful environment. Time will be given to develop the role and to be part of a forward thinking Senior Leadership team.
We warmly encourage applicants to visit our schools. Please contact the school offices to arrange an appointment.
