Thistly Meadow is a well respected and popular school with a Good Ofsted rating (January 2023) in the village of Blaby in Leicestershire. We are just 10 minutes from J21 M1 with good rail and public transport links.
We are lucky to have beautiful grounds adjacent to Bouskell Park in the Conservation Area of Blaby, with a large school school field and school garden. In 2018, we were successful in a bid for grant funding to transform our half acre paddock into a Forest School, which is a wonderful space to support our curriculum and pastoral care. In 2020, a new 6 classroom block was added and a unit for Birkett House Special School. This is an exciting time for us as we grow to a two form entry school and we were delighted to welcome our first additional reception class in September 2021.
Our vision at Thistly Meadow Primary School is to inspire with the joy of lifelong learning. We are a school which is happy to explore new ideas and to continually develop our practice. Our curriculum is exciting and aims to develop character, creativity and aspirations, helping every child to achieve their best.
We are a warm and friendly school where our pupils, their families and staff work together to create a genuinely caring school community with an active and supportive PTA. Our staff team is supported by a strong governing body that visit the school regularly and collaboration with our partner school, Greenfield Primary in Countesthorpe, enables skill sharing, joint training and coaching and development projects.
