Class Teacher - KS2 job summary
We are seeking to appoint a KS2 Teacher, starting
in September 2024.
At Queen’s
Park Academy we ensure children develop a solid foundation of knowledge and
skills that they can build on throughout their education. We place a strong
emphasis on securing the fundamentals of literacy and numeracy, and focus on
developing an understanding of science, history, geography, music and the arts
in the wider curriculum. We believe this knowledge is fascinating,
beautiful and worthy in its own right, and use the knowledge itself to foster
curiosity and creativity in our pupils.
Overall responsibilities:
To teach the Advantage Schools curriculum to a cohort of pupils
To ensure effective use of assessment that leads to responsive action aimed at filling gaps in knowledge
To ensure that teaching and learning practice is supported by the most robust research and evidence
To maintain and contribute to the development of the curriculum and champion the school’s approach to curriculum development and delivery
To work as part of the teaching team and, where appropriate, help develop other teaching staff
To support very high expectations and standards in all aspects of school life in keeping with the vision for the school
To ensure that safeguarding procedures and practices are followed with rigour
WHY QUEEN’S PARK ACADEMY?
At Queen's Park Academy we emphasise the importance
of kindness, civility, and inclusivity in a text-rich, teacher-led
learning environment. We want our pupils to leave our primary schools
equipped for success in the next stage of their educational journey, and to
achieve this we teach an academic curriculum enhanced by an entitlement to
enrichment for all. We prioritise the teaching of powerful knowledge in our
curriculum; knowledge that is transformational, taking children beyond learning
that can be easily acquired through their everyday experience, and providing
them with the tools they need to make sense of and navigate the world around
them as educated citizens.
We prioritise providing a
transformational education for the children and young people in our care, and
we are looking for great people with the knowledge and skills to support us in
achieving this aim.
We believe in pro-actively
supporting pupils to successfully achieve high standards of conduct, resulting
in very high expectations, and a calm and consistent learning environment where
pupils feel safe, valued and can thrive. We think this makes for a warm
and happy school, where teachers can teach and pupils can learn, but moreover
enables us to give pupils the foundations they need to lead happy and
fulfilling lives.
ABOUT ADVANTAGE SCHOOLS

joining us imminently. Our pupils will leave our schools prepared for a
fulfilling life, including the opportunity to go to a great university and
pursue the career of their choice. To achieve this, our network of schools
teach an academic, knowledge-rich curriculum enhanced by an entitlement to
enrichment for all.
We achieve
our goals through the recruitment and retention of the best colleagues and
school leaders, developing talent through sector-leading professional

We work hard to demonstrate our golden rules of be kind, be safe and be ready to learn. They are embedded in much of what we do including the culture and behaviour expectations within the school.
The school curriculum is designed to ensure the children learn more over time. We provide them with the knowledge they need to continue to be successful as they progress onto their next stage of education. Learning extends outside of the classroom through visits to places that link to curriculum as well as places that are outside of our children lived experiences. We offer a large range of extracurricular opportunities.
