Class Teacher job summary

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Class Teacher to be paid within the Main Pay Scale and must be able and prepared to work across all Key Stages. But we will consider applications from an NQT or early career teacher and support will be provided by the Academy Heads and staff.

This role will be based mainly around our schools in East Devon, so the successful applicant will need to have a full driving licence and be extremely flexible and willing to travel to any academy within the Trust at short notice. The period of cover will differ each time and may at times be just a single day or a number of weeks. A mileage allowance will be paid from an agreed base for the successful applicant.

Whilst all the academies gain expertise by working closely together, each academy is unique with its own particular character. Our academies achieve high academic standards through the provision of an exciting curriculum that makes the most of our rich surroundings. We offer a caring, nurturing environment, with dedicated staff who strive to meet the needs of every child and a culture of high expectations through first rate systems and procedures that ensure we are effective and efficient in all that we do.

Working together, our academies can achieve more for our children than by working alone. We learn together, support each other, share our expertise and ensure we are always current, ready to offer the very highest standards of teaching and provide exceptional learning opportunities for all our children.

The academies within our Multi-Academy Trust are vibrant and exciting places to work in, yet our small size enables us to know every child and build strong relationships with each family. All academies have good reputations built on high standards and a caring ethos, but we are always looking for ways to improve so that we meet the challenges of preparing children for the future. We offer the prospect of working in a range of settings, being empowered to develop your own expert knowledge and skills and the chance to support/ lead others in their professional journey. You will be part of a proficient team dedicated to working to improve the outcomes for all our children, where your work-life balance will be promoted. We offer you the support of clear systems, protocols, expectations and structures to help you to succeed.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

A commitment to developing your own practice through engagement in professional learning in order to develop and implement the most current teaching strategies

An understanding of how pupils learn and flexibility to support the schools in offering an excellent experience to all our children, including enriching extra-curricular activities

A commitment to develop the opportunities for our children to learn outside

Recognition of our amazing children; nurturing and supporting them, meeting their needs to ensure they have independent learning behaviours that will see them prepared for their future learning journey

A committed approach to the wider school community and engagement with them

A cheerful, resilient, fresh and creative approach to giving the children under your care the best you can

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for this post.

If you wish to discuss the role further, please contact our Director of Education, Lizzie Lethbridge at Lizzie.Lethbridge@thelink.academy and she would be happy to discuss any queries you may have.
