Class Teacher job summary
Longford CofE Primary School is a small village school set in the Derbyshire countryside. We place children at the centre of everything we do, promoting a love of learning for all children, within a caring and supportive community. We pride ourselves upon strong relationships - staff across school know all of our children, offering a nurturing environment where children are encouraged and supported to achieve well.
Our children are enthusiastic learners who welcome the range of experiences we offer and immerse themselves in the range of diverse and inclusive topics taught across school. We have three mixed age classes and so it is important that candidates are able to plan for and teach learners across multiple year groups.
To ensure all children make positive progress, we are looking for candidates whose teaching reflects our universal offer for all children, supporting individual needs and identifying opportunities to accelerate progress, whilst promoting inclusive values and high expectations for all.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is enthusiastic and displays a love of learning
- Will maintain strong boundaries with children, setting high behavioural expectations
- Welcomes the experience and opportunities of mixed age classes
- Will uphold our school values: kindness, respect, cooperation, empathy & resilience
- Can review data and children’s work to identify target areas in order to accelerate children’s progress
- Has high expectations for all children
- Is a team player
The successful candidate will bring additional strength to our teaching team, through their excellent classroom practice. Applications are welcome from ECTs and experienced teachers.
Allocation of class/year groups will be based upon discussions with candidates, taking into account experience and professional development opportunities. We therefore ask that teaching experience is made clear within applications.
Current class structure:
Reception and Year 1 (with full time TA)
Year 2 and Year 3
Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (with HLTA in the mornings and Y6 currently being taught separately by the headteacher in Maths)
If an ECT is appointed, they will be provided with the statutory induction support, along with additional early career professional development with other ECT’s within our trust.
We are proud to be part of the Embark Multi-academy Trust and to be part of their innovative, collaborative professional development programme.
Candidates are asked to state particular strengths and experience as part of their written application.
