What skills and experience we're looking for

Experience:

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Degree
  • Experience of primary teaching, ideally across more than one year group (Not necessary for NQTs)


Skills and Knowledge:

  • Be aware of National Curriculum requirements at the appropriate key stage
  • Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • The theory and practice of effective teaching & learning for the individual needs of all children including EAL, SEN, Able & Talented (e.g classroom organisation and learning strategies)
  • A good understanding of how children learn
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils
  • Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
  • Be able to monitor, assess, record and report on pupils’ progress
  • Have a personal drive and commitment to be the best that they can be and provide the best experiences for the children in their class
  • Promote the school’s vison and values positively, and use effective strategies to monitor motivation and morale
  • Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning
  • A commitment to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school
  • High expectations for children’s attainment and progress
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Commitment to safeguarding
  • Active commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion demonstrated through classroom practice and language
  • Communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to a variety of audiences

  • Ability to speak with confidence and accuracy, using accurate sentence structures and vocabulary

  • Ability to choose the right kind of vocabulary for the situation in hand without a great deal of hesitation

  • Ability to listen to customers and understand their needs

  • Ability to tailor your approach to each conversation to be appropriate to the customer, responding clearly with fine shades of meaning, even in complex situations
