Class Teacher (maternity cover) job summary
Before you begin writing your application . . . Come and visit us! We are in the
gorgeous village of East Langdon, between Deal and Dover and if that doesn't attract you then come and see our lovely village school and delightful children. There's no way we can convey in this description what the school, the children or the staff are like but we're sure that you'll want to join us after you've met us. So, after giving an informal introduction here's the 'official' information bit that you might just need . . .
We are looking to appoint a good or outstanding, full time teacher from September 2021 to cover a period of maternity leave in our delightful village primary school. The vacancy is for either a mixed Year 1/2 class or a mixed Year 3/4 class - don't let the mixed ages put you off, we'll support with how we do this to make it easy to teach.
We are looking for a strong and confident teacher who has high expectations and a drive to improve outcomes for our learners; someone who embraces creativity and who has a good understanding of the opportunities of the National Curriculum, someone who is willing to learn from experienced colleagues in what works well in our school for our pupils. The ideal applicant should have an excellent understanding of child development and of how children learn and be able to enthuse, engage and challenge children in their learning journey.
The applicant should be a good team player but also be self motivated in the leadership of their class and any subject responsibility across the whole school.
We can offer you a friendly ‘family’ ethos, a well resourced working environment, a staff team that is caring and committed to ensuring children’s maximum achievement, delightful pupils to work with and supportive governors and parents.
Newly Qualified teachers are MOST welcome to apply as are experienced teachers. We want the right person for the job and if you feel you might be that person, then please contact our school office to discuss this vacancy further and to request an applicant’s pack.
There is a possibility of starting with us in July 2021 in order to liaise with current staff and to get to know the ropes in our school prior to September.
Langdon Primary School is committed to the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare. The post is subject to checks in line with this commitment including an Enhanced DBS Disclosure check.

Langdon Primary School is in the small village of East Langdon between Deal and Dover. The school is very much part of the community and links with other groups are strong. Our Governing Body and parents are exceptionally supportive of the school. There is a positive ‘family’ feel amongst our 90 children and staff; older children are encouraged to take nurturing and leadership roles in order to ensure that everyone is valued and younger children learn from their older role models. We have a very positive ethos for learning and we put high expectations of achievement and progress at the heart of what we do. The school had its last Ofsted inspection in January 2020 and received a GOOD grading and a very positive, accurate report.
