Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) job summary
We are seeking an inspirational Teacher to
challenge children who are highly motivated, enthusiastic and a delight to
teach. The post is currently in a Year 1
class.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated team committed to continuing the development and success of the school.
We are looking for someone to provide the best quality learning opportunities for our children, who:-
- demonstrates excellent classroom practice
- comes with high expectations and the ability to motivate
- has a warm personality and a good sense of humour
- is a practising Catholic or strongly committed to our Catholic ethos

We are a Catholic school, providing a broad, creative, supportive family environment centred on the Gospels, on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. St John’s currently has 305 pupils who are split across 11 classes. The school is split into 4 phases, each of whom is led by a Phase Leader who is part of the school leadership team. Together with the Headteacher, Tracey Sessions, the Inclusion Lead and School Business Manager, they lead the school with support from the Governing Body.
We have very supportive parents who actively engage in supporting the school and parish community and the pupils. St John’s has an active School Association called the Friends of St John’s who regularly run social and fund raising events. These are not only enjoyable but also a very valuable aspect of our parish and local community life.
We are committed to working in collaboration with other schools including a range of support provided by both senior management and governors. We are a member of the Emmaus Schools Partnership and Trowbridge Collaborative Schools.
