What skills and experience we're looking for
o Right to work in the UK
o Qualified teacher status
o Degree
o Good knowledge of Autism specific practices and approaches
o Knowledge of and commitment to high standards of safeguarding
o Commitment to participate in ongoing training and professional development
o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
o Willingness to learn and self-reflect
o Ability to use initiative and to think creatively and flexibly
o Knowledge of the National Curriculum
o Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
o A good understanding of how children learn
o Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs
o Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils
o Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
o Knowledge of effective behaviour support strategies
o An ability to devise, monitor and review individual learning focus targets (related to pupils’ EHCPs) so pupils learn and remember what is most important to them
o Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning

Peterhouse School is a non-maintained Specialist School for pupils with ASC aged 5-19 in Southport.
Peterhouse aims to provide a specialist environment which is flexible and responsive in fulfilling the academic, social, emotional and physical potential of all our young people, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be a successful autistic adult.
