Welcome to St Mary’s. Our School is a small Catholic School in the village of Marnhull. Our school is set in beautiful, spacious grounds, which are an ideal setting for children to interact, play and expand their knowledge and understanding. We are all very proud of our small and happy school and we aim to provide a warm, enjoyable, caring atmosphere in which children can learn and succeed. We are committed to working with parents to create a partnership to enable the children to flourish and welcome children and families of all faiths and those with none – we recognise that we have so much more in common with each other than those things that make us different. We will therefore extend the warmest of welcomes to any family who chooses to send their child to our school.
At St Mary’s, we aim to live out our mission through showing love and respect to each other within our Catholic family. We nurture each other’s individual talents and skills, as Jesus taught us to do. We believe that everyone matters and is loved by God and this builds the foundation for our learning community. We welcome people of all faiths and none, and promote understanding, respect and celebration for all.
We know that choosing a school for your child is one of the most difficult decisions a parent can make. We recognise that as parents you, most of all, want to know that we will know your child, that your child will be looked after, loved and pushed to reach their full potential.
At St Mary’s the children make great progress due to the quality of teaching, the caring and nurturing environment and the overall provision offered to them. We believe that with great teaching and hard work, all children can and will succeed. We listen to children read frequently and expect parents to do the same. We teach phonics rigorously and encourage children to choose from the array of books in our brand new library. We teach maths with a healthy balance of rigour and fun. Children love to succeed and our ‘everyone will get there’ approach gives them the tools to do so.
We want our children to take risks, have a go at something that they didn’t think they were capable of. We want our children to recognise that when they work hard, great things happen.
If you are a parent and would like to come and visit us, please phone or pop in. We would be delighted to show you around our school and answer any questions you have. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy finding out about us on our website.
Mrs Sharon Betts
Headteacher
