What skills and experience we're looking for
Due to the retirement of a member of staff and a restructuring of positions in school, the Governing Committee of Oulton C.E. First School is looking to appoint a suitably qualified practitioner to share the teaching across Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 as well as provide cover for PPA. The successful candidate will be expected to take on subject leadership and Forest School experience is desirable but not essential.
Oulton C.E. First School is situated on the outskirts of the market town of Stone. We are a popular village school set within a strong local community. Oulton is a small school but a significant number of our children are welcomed from surrounding areas. Our school caters for children from three years of age in our Nursery through to learners of nine (Year 4). The children are taught in mixed-year classes. Behaviour and attitudes to learning are excellent. We are part of a Multi-Academy Trust comprising two First Schools and a Middle School.
The successful candidate will work in both our mixed Year 1&2 class as well as our mixed Year 3&4 class. Both classes are part job share as the current teachers are both part-time. This commitment is 2 days in each class and one day for PPA cover.
As a Church of England school, we promote Christian and moral values, whilst also recognising and valuing other beliefs.
We are looking for someone to join us who:
- Is aspirational for the outcomes of children
- Demonstrates full commitment to our Christian Values
- Is committed to high quality teaching and learning
- Has a secure knowledge of the Primary curriculum across Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2
- Demonstrates highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Is a team player
- Is flexible – you may be required to work in the other First School within the MAT
- Is able to take on subject leadership as required
- Has experience of delivering Forest School sessions (desirable)
What the school offers its staff
We can offer:
- A supportive and committed Senior Leadership Team
- A Governing Committee dedicated to supporting sustained improvement in raising standards.
- A forward-thinking and ambitious school
- A hard-working and committed team of teachers and TA’s
- A very well-resourced school
- Continued professional development
- Opportunities to work in other settings and with other age groups
- Opportunities to take on subject leadership across the school
- Robust and supportive performance management systems
