Classroom Assistant job summary
The children and young people at Freemantles have Autism and a fascinatingly different perspective on the world. Why not come and find out more for yourselves and join our rapidly growing school and staff team?
We are looking for hard-working, happy, nurturing people to join our team of classroom assistants as soon as possible. We can guarantee you will be kept on your toes!
The positions are for 30 hours per week, from 9.15am to 3.15pm, term time only. The position is graded at PS3 with a salary of £12,913 pro rata (Full time equivalent £18,013). We are also looking for classroom support staff to particularly cover the lunch period and into the afternoon. If you are looking for part-time work in the afternoons we would really like to hear from you too.
You will be providing classroom support to our children and young people with complex social communication needs and autism. Our classes have 9 children. Previous experience of working with children would be good, but is not essential, as we provide all staff with a paid training package and ongoing professional development. The children and young people at Freemantles are aged 4 to 19 years. There are positions available in both the Primary and Secondary / Post-16 Departments. If you have a particular preference for which age group you work with, please explain this on your application form so that we can consider it (although we cannot guarantee you would be placed in this department).
The school leaders at Freemantles are experienced in supporting staff to develop their individual careers with some staff moving on from this position to Lead Assistant, Teacher or Educational Psychologist etc.
The role can fit in and work alongside other paid opportunities that are often available to support our children and young people out of school hours and in the school holidays (subject to experience and completed training).
We offer great benefits including:
- Dedicated staff room
- Lunches available on site at a reasonable price
- Generous pension scheme
- Surrey Rewards discount programme
