What skills and experience we're looking for
With effect from as soon as possible, we are seeking to appoint a Classroom Assistants to join the Academy’s Student Support Team.
This position may be linked to individual students, who will need help and supportin lessons tobe able to access their learning and make progress. Group work and classroom assistance with all students may be required. As such, this role is fixed term and will be reviewed each academic year due to being linked to Senco funding.
The Student Support Team is a very close-knit and effective group of individuals who provide high quality and personalised care and support in the belief that this is key to student success and enjoyment during their time at the Academy.
As a Teaching Assistant, you are expected to provide an efficient and high quality support to all students within the department, under the supervision and direction of the class teacher, in consultation with the SENCO as required.
The successful candidates will need to be flexible, resilient and hardworking and committed to the role. A natural empathy, caring nature and proven experience of working with vulnerable and challenging students is an advantage as such qualities are essential requirements to work in this challenging but extremely rewarding position.
Teaching and Learning
- Develops and uses knowledge and skills e.g. literacy, numeracy or science to contribute to student learning.
- Monitor, evaluate and records students’ progress and reports this as directed by SENDCo
- Use information and communication technology to support students learning.
- Provides support to the teacher by accompanying students on off-site activities.
- Discusses with the teacher and contributes to curriculum and classroom planning – informally and at meetings.
- Works as part of a team to ensure that the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of students enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.
- Assist in the educational and social development of all students.
- Have full relevant knowledge of students medical and physical needs and able to refer to the relevant person should a problem arise.
- Assist students in developing their resilience and independence in the classroom.
