Qualifications
The Class Teacher should have experience of teaching that has made a positive impact on children’s learning and outcomes.
Experience
The Class Teacher should have knowledge and understanding of:
Child development;
The theory and practice of effectively meeting the individual needs of every child (e.g. classroom organisation and learning strategies);
Effective teaching and learning styles.
The monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting of pupils’ progress; The positive links necessary within school and with all its stakeholders;
Planning and Assessment
Teachers are required to plan and deliver a curriculum which reflects the needs and abilities of children in their class group.

Teachers are expected to maintain records of achievement in the format currently used for internal and transfer purposes by the school and which meet requirements of the National Curriculum.
Assessment activity needs to be a regular part of the work planned.
Teachers, except those who are newly qualified, are expected to provide leadership across the school in a designated subject or curriculum area, this to include:
monitoring quality and standards
contributing to school planning and self-evaluation
providing professional support to other teachers and support staff
advising the Head Teacher on appropriate resources and materials
leading appropriate professional development.
Classroom Management
In order to sustain high expectations, teachers are responsible for the oversight of the children's care and maintenance of school resources.
Teachers are role models for the children throughout the school, which requires whole-staff commitment to our policies. Behaviour that is incompatible with the aims of the school should never be tolerated; our aim is to provide a positive learning environment.
Parents must be kept informed about their child's performance in terms of the education we offer.
General Responsibilities
Class Teachers are required to undertake administrative and organisational aspects of their work in accordance with the guidance of the workforce reforms.
Class Teachers are expected to support school development work in co-operation with other members of the Staff by means of meetings, reports and other methods
Teachers on the Upper Pay Scale
Teachers in the Upper Pay Scale can be expected to make a particular contribution to building team commitment in line with the statutory requirement to meet threshold standards.
In particular, teachers at UP3 will:
provide a role model for professional practice in the school
lead in a key subject area or one deemed the focus of the school improvement plan
make a distinctive contribution compared with other teachers
engage and motivate pupils
