Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with a strong interest in special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and passionate KS2 Class Teacher with the additional responsibility of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENCO). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching to Key Stage 2 pupils, ensuring inclusivity, supporting students with SEN, and leading on SEN provisions across the school. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic school environment, making a positive impact on children’s educational journey.
At St Catherine’s, we grow together in God’s love. Our school is full of happy people, busy classrooms, and caring friendships. Every child is nurtured through a rich and exciting curriculum, guided by wonderful teachers who help them reach high standards — but life at St Catherine’s is about so much more. Here, every child is given the chance to shine, to try new things with confidence, and to believe that they can succeed. We celebrate each other’s gifts, show kindness and respect for everyone’s beliefs, and take joy in each other’s achievements. St Catherine’s is a place of laughter, wonder, and lasting memories — a family where, together, we flourish.
We believe that it is these things that make our children lively, confident and articulate and is why they move on to fulfilling lives built upon the Christian values and strong foundations laid in the school.
WE ARE SEEKING A PASSIONATE LEADER WHO:
- A qualified teacher with experience in Key Stage 2, who demonstrates consistently good or outstanding practice, who has a passion for teaching and learning that is seen through quality first, creative classroom teaching and pupil engagement.
- A strong understanding of inclusive practice and SEN provision.
- SENCO qualification (or a willingness to complete it).
- A collaborative and caring approach to supporting pupils and colleagues.
- Someone with energy, creativity, and a genuine passion for teaching and learning.
YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:
- To teach primary aged children as identified by the schemes of work
- Identify students with potential learning difficulties and work with staff to implement appropriate interventions
- Oversee and coordinate the provision for children with special educational needs across the school.
IN RETURN, WE OFFER:
- Time and support to carry out the SENCO responsibilities effectively
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Access to National College training, subject-specific CPD, leadership pathways, and mentoring programs.
- Career Progression: Clear pathways for growth, from early careers to leadership roles. We use a ‘touchbase’ informal approach to focus on professional development as well as an annual career conversation with your manager!
- Wellbeing & Support: Leadership training focused on wellbeing, mental health resources, and staff networks.
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI): Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace, with ongoing EDI training and initiatives.
- Long weekend off in November for teachers and term time support staff!
- Automatic pay progression for teachers – we don’t have performance related appraisals and pay reviews!
- Generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days for all year-round support staff. This increases to 28 days after 5 years!
- A paid premium to a Healthcare Cash Plan to claim back contributions towards dental, optical and other medical costs via UK Healthcare.
- 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
- Amazing benefits and discounts via UK Healthcare.

St. Catherine’s is a school which is filled with a buzz of happy activity and the warmth of positive relationships between pupils and adults. The children are taught a broad and balanced curriculum by wonderful teachers, and the academic standards are high; but St. Catherine’s is about so much more than this. It is about giving everyone the opportunity to shine and be proud; it is about having the confidence to have a go at anything and the belief that you can succeed. It is about tolerance and respect for the beliefs of others and pride in what others do well. It is about the fun, magic and laughter of school life and the making of all those memories that last into old age.
We believe that it is these things that make our children lively, confident and articulate and is why they move on to fulfilling lives built upon the Christian values and strong foundations laid in the school.
We would encourage you to pay us a visit and to sample something of the spirit of St. Catherine’s. You can be assured of a very warm welcome.
