Cleaner job summary

Ormiston Maritime Academy are seeking to appoint a highly-motivated and committed cleaner to provide daily cleaning services on behalf of the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring a high level of hygiene and safety is maintained.

The successful candidate will be required to support the maintenance of a clean academy environment, to undertake the necessary cleaning duties, maintenance and procedures, following systems and policy to promote high standards of cleanliness across the academy.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 5.00am – 7.45am and 3.15pm – 5.30pm; 25 hours per week.

An enhanced disclosure and barring check will be a requirement of the post.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake cleaning duties which may include dusting, emptying bins, picking up litter, sweeping, washing, vacuuming, scrubbing, buffing, polishing, toilet cleaning in areas of the establishment.
  • May undertake specialised cleaning programmes during the school closures or other designated periods.
  • Assist in the preparation of rooms and appropriate work areas e.g. meeting rooms, classrooms.
  • May be required to undertake first aid duties.
