JOB TITLE:Cleaning Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Site Manager

GRADE:NJC Band C point 05-06. 

Actual pro rata salary at C:05 is £18,160.97 p.a. (Salary based on full time 37 hour/52 week salary x part time hours/weeks

C05 36.25/37 x 44.8/52.143  x £21,575 (full time) = £18,160.97

C06 36.25/37 x 44.8/52.143 x £21,968 (full time) = £18,491.78)

HOURS:36.25 hours per week

Split shifts: Mon-Fri 4:45am to 8:45am (4 hours) and 3:45pm to 7pm (3.25 hours)

195 days (term time, plus 5 days pre new academic year, last week of the school summer holidays)

As Cleaning Supervisor, you will take responsibility for and manage our team of cleaners on a day-to-day basis, working under the management of the Site Manager. You willperform cleaning duties within your own allocated area, as well as assisting in providing cover for any absent team members along with the rest of the team. You will act as a key holder responsible for the security of the premises. This will include unlocking the site daily and operating alarms. On rare occasions this may also involve locking up the site in the absence of the Site Team.
It is important to note that the Cleaning Supervisor will be responsible for cleaning their own area; including removing dust & debris from floors, cleaning bathrooms, vertical surfaces including windows, removal of rubbish & waste etc.
You should be able to
  • show an understanding of Health, Safety & security issues in schools
  • have an understanding of basic cleaning chemicals and their appropriate use in accordance with COSHH Regulations
  • organise your own work, prioritise tasks and keep to deadlines
  • work independently & supervise the work of a team
  • demonstrate good communication & literacy skills, both verbal & written
  • show a 'can do' attitude
  • deal with & resolve queries, complaints & requests for information
  • be trustworthy, honest, reliable, good timekeeper and able to work under pressure
  • willingness to work early mornings and evenings

You should ideally have

  • a minimum of 2 years' experience as a cleaner in an educational establishment or public building
  • experience of supervising cleaning staff, ideally in an educational establishment
  • a first aid qualification or willingness to attend training to gain a qualification asap
