Typically, these meetings occur on Thursdays between 4:45 pm and 7:00 pm. However, occasional additional meetings may be required to support Governors in fulfilling their duties

What skills and experience we're looking for

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and organise all Governing Body meetings, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and proper procedures.
  • Communicate meeting details and distribute relevant documents promptly.
  • Record comprehensive minutes and maintain attendance records for each meeting.
  • Collaborate with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher to create and distribute agendas in advance.
  • Manage correspondence and maintain an organised filing system for important documents.
  • Provide advice and guidance on procedural matters, legal requirements, and governance best practices.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation, regulations, and changes in governance procedures and policies.
  • Arrange and facilitate training sessions for governors as necessary.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality during meetings and act as a liaison between the Governing Body, school staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Governing Body activities, decisions, and policies.
  • Assist governors in understanding their roles and responsibilities, offering information and support as needed.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required to support the efficient functioning of the Governing Body and the school.

Cann Bridge School is a registered Plymouth City Council Local Authority maintained special school for children and young people aged 3 to 19 years. Located in Estover, Plymouth, learners travel from Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall to learn, with capacity for 108 learners.

The school is designated as one for children and young people with complex needs; with their cognition and learning needs identifying a severe learning difficulty. Most learners have complex communication and interaction needs, including those identified as part of a specific learning difficulties associated with Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Condition, physical disabilities or a complex medical condition.
