Clerk to Governors job summary
Post: Clerk to the Governors of the Federated Governing Body of Hall Green Infant and Junior Schools -
The post is as a self-employed independent contractor.
Required: As soon as possible
Rate of £150 per meeting (governing body and committee), £200 per hearing meeting
The Governing Body is looking to appoint an experienced Clerk to Governors with immediate effect.
Previous minute taking experience is essential.
Knowledge/experience of school governance is essential.
The Clerk to Governors will be accountable to the Governing Body, working effectively with the Chair of Governors, and with the Head Teachers.
The duties include
Advising the Governing Body of procedural duties and obligations
Preparation and circulation of agendas
Minuting meetings
Preparation and circulating minutes
Recording Attendance of governors
Organizing panels
Other administrative duties as required.
Governing Body and Committee meetings are usually held on a Tuesday at 5 p.m. (when held in person), 6 p.m. (when a virtual meeting). Meetings tend to be of the order of 2 hours.
We are hoping to resume meetings in school with all members in the near future.
Hearings and other meetings typically are held during the working day.
The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills with access to email / internet, good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good organisational skills. This is a post where confidentiality is essential.
Minimum number of meetings per term:
- 8 meeting in Autumn term (4 Governing Body and 4 committee)
- 6 meetings in Spring term (3 governing body and 3 committee)
- 6 meetings in Summer term (3 governing body and 3 committee)
Other meetings/hearings as and when required.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role
