What skills and experience we're looking for

The clerk is accountable to the governing board, working effectively with the chair of governors, the headteacher and other governors. The clerk to the governors will ensure the smooth running of the governing board: preparing agendas and meeting papers, taking and distributing minutes, providing administrative support and providing procedural and legislative advice to the governing board. Training can be provided, but ideally some experience of working in a school or as a Clerk would be an advantage, but not essential.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines, knowledgeable on governance procedures and education legislation and guidance, an excellent communicator, an ability to maintain confidentiality and have a flexible approach to work. The successful applicant will be required to attend all Full Governing Body and Sub Committee Meetings which usually last for approximately two hours. There are currently 6 FGB Meetings per annum (usually on a Wednesday evening during term time) with further Sub-Committee meetings to attend.
