Clerk to Governors job summary
- Salary: £125 to £150 per full governing body meeting, dependent upon experience and clerking qualifications (approximately 9-10 per year + 3 ad hoc meetings if required) plus reimbursement for training and development.
- Hours: We usually meet on Monday – Thursday evenings during term time. There might be other occasional meetings held during the daytime or at other times by prior arrangement.
About Shefford Lower School
We are seeking a Clerk to support the work of the Governing Body of Shefford Lower School. We are an oversubscribed and popular Lower School serving the Market town of Shefford and we offer an exciting values-based education.
We are looking to appoint a highly organised individual with a professional manner and effective communication skills to support the work of the Governing Body. You will work with the Chair and Vice Chair of Governors to organise the work of the Governing Body. The Governing Body operates an ‘all through’ meeting system with no formal sub committees.
Duties will include
attendance and minute taking at governors’ meetings,
the preparation and distribution of agendas,
minutes and correspondence for all meetings,
maintaining a policy review cycle and an annual cycle of governor business,
supporting the induction of new governors and
guiding the Governing Body on procedural matters.
Previous experience of clerking a School Governing Body is not essential provided you are willing to attend the relevant training courses offered by the Local Authority and other organisations.
Discretion and confidentiality will be essential in the role.
