What skills and experience we're looking for

In the role of Coordinator of Maths across the academy you will:

  • play a key role in leading of Maths to ensure outstanding outcomes for students in all areas of teaching and learning, curriculum provision, standard of attainment and behaviour and safety within the curriculum area
  • communicate clear purpose and vision for developing Maths across the curriculum to colleagues within your department and within the academy
  • provide clear, cohesive leadership and direction in the department by motivating teachers and those supporting in the classroom to develop innovative strategies to enhance the quality of learning, teaching and achievement.
  • provide and showcase highly engaging, relevant and innovative learning opportunities at all key stages to ensure students make exceptional progress in Maths and are provided with the key skills they need to be successful in both the academy and their future lives
  • promote the achievement of high standards through effective teaching and learning within Maths areas, preparation, evaluation and action planning
  • ensure the implementation of the intervention model following every data collection cycle across the department
  • implement the department development Plan / SEF to secure continuous improvement and quality outcomes for all students
  • receive and act on feedback to continually build on the strengths and improve personal performance within the academy systems
  • take into account and constantly review academy contextual factors and prior attainment when planning and teaching lessons
  • work in a cross-curricular way to support Maths across the academy in the use of active learning approaches to enrich curriculum and skills delivery As Coordinator of Numeracy across the academy you will:
  • lead and oversee developing the Numeracy curriculum across the academy providing our students with a range of opportunities and the skills they need to prepare for later life.
  • assist in developing policies and procedures, in line with academy policy, to ensure high achievement and effective teaching and learning
  • use data on student performance to inform policy and practice, identify underachieving students, and monitor the impact of Numeracy strategies across the academy
  • assist the senior leadership team in considering, planning and reviewing the intent, implementation and impact of any Numeracy policies and practices
  • assist the senior leadership team in establishing plans for the development of the whole academy Numeracy that supports the academy improvement plan 6.
  • work as part of the teaching and learning team
  • will establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships among staff involved with the subject, including through team working and mutual support, devolving responsibilities and delegating tasks as appropriate
  • act as a positive role model for others.
  • work with the SENCO and other staff with special educational needs expertise, to ensure that work is matched to individual student needs
  • ensure the effective and efficient management and organisation of learning resources, including information and communications technology
  • complete relevant documentation to assist in tracking student progress and use this information to inform teaching and learning
  • recognise and celebrate student achievement
  • model the vision and values of the academy
  • demonstrate outstanding teaching and learning through your own practice and through the leadership of others
  • carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with academy and Trust policies
