What skills and experience we're looking for
We are a small school with big opportunities!
Icknield is an Outstanding special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged 3-19 years. However, the true beauty of our school is that we are a small site and everyone here is part of the close knit ‘Icknield Family’. We all know all of our children, each other and every individual in our family is valued and cared for.
We are highly ambitious for our pupils, and we follow our own personalised curriculum based on developing key attributes needed to maximise pupil’s ability to have a positive influence on and control over their own lives: PPICC (Personal, Physical, Independence, Cognition and Communication).
Our school’s strap line is ‘Your journey matters’ and that is true for both pupils and staff. Teaching and Learning takes place in small class groups with a high level of support and a well-differentiated curriculum to meet individual needs.
What the school offers its staff
We are looking to recruit a conscientious, enthusiastic and energetic communication support assistant, who is resourceful, motivated and has the ability to inspire pupils. You will be supporting a child who has a severe hearing impairment, along with other communication difficulties. You will require:
- a level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL)
- a good level of literacy and numeracy skills
- be empathetic to pupil needs
- be professionally discreet and respect confidentiality
- have good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour
- be a good team worker with a positive outlook
Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged.
