An exciting opportunity awaits experienced cooks to become part of the dynamic catering team at Castlefield Campus! In this role, you will oversee the safe, effective, and efficient operation of all aspects of the catering service, including budget management. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of the kitchen staff.
The NVQ Level 3 qualification is mandatory.
Main Duties
- Manage a quality, cost effective catering service in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs) or contracts and legislative requirements.
- Adhere to pre-planned menus to ensure compliance federations requirements and the school needs.
- Carry out efficient financial administration, following federation systems and financial regulations.
- Provide a child focused service, which is courteous and responsive and meets the child’s needs at all times.
- Manage the team in promoting equal opportunities in the workplace and delivering services, which are accessible and appropriate to the diverse needs of service users.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene and COSSH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations at all times.
- Participate in new initiatives and future changes in service delivery improvements to support the client and the aims and objectives of the City Council.
- Actively pursue own personal development and take full advantage of training provided.
- Undertake such duties as may be considered appropriate cook in line with the needs of the service.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be enthusiastic and have an innovative approach to producing great quality meals
- Be interested in the importance of nutrition for ‘feeding the minds of the future’ and educating the next generation about food.
- Excellent kitchen abilities
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Knowledge of HACCP’s
- Ensure you follow the rules of health and safety.
- Require knowledge of dietary requirements and allergens although full training will be provided.
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be flexible and willing with a ‘can do’ attitude
A background of catering experience in similar or other hospitality fields is desirable, however, training can be provided for a suitable and enthusiastic candidate.
