Coordinator of Lower School Geography - permanent job summary
Due to the excellent uptake at GCSE, an exciting opportunity has arisen to develop and strengthen the leadership of our highly successful geography department. We are seeking to appoint a passionate, highly motivated and innovative geography teacher who will be responsible for developing the Lower School (KS3) Geography experience whilst teaching to the full age and ability range at KS3/4. You will join a forward thinking, well-resourced department in a highly regarded and well-led Humanities Faculty.
Fieldwork enjoys a prominent role in the curriculum with every year group experiencing at least one opportunity to undertake fieldwork. The department also leads oversubscribed visits to both the Azores and the west coast of the USA and are always looking for new destinations which we feel would continue to inspire our students and develop their geographical curiosity. In particular, we are seeking ways to develop opportunities for students in Lower School to experience ‘live geography’ as part of our residential and extra-curricular programme.
If you are committed and want to support the leadership of high-quality teaching and learning to inspire our young geographers, whilst developing your own career in a highly supportive faculty and school, working with colleagues who share that passion, we look forward to hearing from you.
Having reflected on our recruitment process during the first lockdown, we would like to invite shortlisted candidates to the school for the first stage of the interview process. As working in a school is all about people, we recognise that candidates are making a choice to work at The Mountbatten School and we want that to be an informed choice. We want you to be able to get a feel for our lovely school and students.
On arrival, we will ask candidates to have a lateral flow test to ensure the safety of everyone at the school who will have also been tested that week. This will allow you to teach our students in person and give you the opportunity to meet the wonderfully supportive Humanities faculty.
