Cover Hub Supervisor job summary
Clarendon Academy is seeking a calm, confident and organised individual to join its team as a Cover Hub Supervisor. This is a unique role that involves overseeing multiple classes in a large, shared teaching space, ensuring students remain focused while completing pre-set work provided by their subject teachers. There will be no requirement to plan lessons, mark work or deliver teaching content. The role would suit someone looking to reduce teaching responsibilities, while still making a positive impact on young people.
Working Hours: Part Time (32.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 39 weeks per year including Teacher Training days). Required: January 2026.
Clarendon Academy is a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and in easy commuter distance from Bath, we pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence and a place where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a purposeful learning environment for students, managing their behaviour effectively and ensuring that all pupils are engaged with their tasks. There is a strong behaviour system within our school and expectations of disruption-free learning are clear and non-negotiable for students. As Cover Hub Supervisor, you will be supported by other supervisory staff, along with senior leaders who can assist with any issues that may arise. You will also receive ongoing support from a centralised behaviour team and can direct students not meeting expectations to complete their work in our behaviour suite.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent;
- Has a passion for supporting young people in their development;
- Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
- Is self-motivated, consistent and organised;
- Has the ability to remain calm and authoritative in a busy environment;
- Is a strong team player, good at building relationships;
- Has a confident, resilient and flexible attitude;
- Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social, emotional and mental wellbeing;
- Has experience of supporting students learning;
- Has experience of effective classroom management as a classroom teacher or cover supervisor (advantageous);
- Has a desire to support students without the responsibilities of planning or marking.
We can offer the successful candidate:
- A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
- The opportunity to work with a committed staff team who champion high expectations within a culture of belonging and inclusion;
- The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
- A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
