What skills and experience we're looking for

Essentials

Qualifications:

GCSE or equivalent in Maths/ numeracy and English/literacy

A level or equivalent in one or more subjects

Evidence of recent personal and/or professional development training

Experience:

Experience of working with children in a school environment

Knowledge and skills:

Good communication skills, written and spoken

Clear handwriting

Good ICT skills and willingness to learn more

Good organisational skills

Knowledge of a range of strategies to promote good behaviour

Good time management skills and an ability to work under pressure

Motivation:

Enthusiasm for learning, for working with young people in a school environment, and participating in the wider life of the school

Appearance and health:

Appearance to inspire the confidence of staff, students and the community

A good punctuality and attendance record

Desirable

Qualifications

Degree or other Higher/Further Education qualification.

Interest in progressing within the education profession.

Experience:

Experience of working with students aged 11-14

Knowledge and skills:

Knowledge of SEN issues

Experience of using presentation software, e.g. MS Powerpoint

Experience of using Smartboard or other interactive whiteboards
