Cover Supervisor job summary

We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to join our support staff team for a fixed term period until July 2025.

We are looking for someone who can consistently provide a high-quality learning environment for our students during the short term absence of the class teacher, ensuring standards of behaviour, engagement and achievement are evident at all times.. Flexibility is key as the daily role is a reactive one requiring you to move to where need is greatest.

Working for 37 hours per week, term time plus 1 week (39 working weeks), you would be working in a classroom environment alongside students. Your main responsibility would be to instruct students about the work set by the teacher and assisting them to stay on task and complete the work set to the best of their ability. You would also learn about school policies and how they are implemented including the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with or interacting with children or young people as well as good interpersonal skills and the ability to earn and maintain the respect of students to ensure the appropriate codes of classroom behaviour are observed.

Applicants for this post must be enthusiastic and possess a determined character, together with a positive approach to working with young people and the ability to set clear guidelines for them. To do this you will have an awareness of, and commitment to, safeguarding practices and behaviour management strategies.

Confidence using a laptop as well as good organisational skills are important for this role.
