What skills and experience we're looking for

The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking to recruit experienced, hardworking individuals for the role of Cover Supervisor at Chatham Grammar.

You will be part of a team responsible for supervising whole classes of students to cover short-term absences of teachers (planned or emergency cover). This will involve facilitating students learning through supporting them with set activities (provided by teachers), responding to questions from students and managing their behaviour according to the Trust Policy.

To be successful in this role you will need to be well organised, confident, and work well as part of a team. Previous experience in a similar role or classroom experience will be useful but not essential. However, flexibility, resilience, good numeracy and literacy skills and excellent communications skills will be key.

This is a valued and respected role in itself, but this role may also be of interest to candidates who are considering training to teach in the future. A significant number of our Cover Supervisors have gone on to train to teach with the Trust and we would be happy to support you on this journey if that is your aim.

What the school offers its staff

Chatham Grammar offers its students a wide variety of educational opportunities with a commitment to ensuring that its students achieve good educational outcomes, develop healthy minds, and aspire to be happy confident young women ready to embark on a variety of aspirational careers. It benefits from being part of the University of Kent Academies Trust and has a current Ofsted rating of Good. Chatham Grammar is proud of its comprehensive website and would encourage applicants to visit for further information: www.chathamgrammar.org.uk

The successful applicant will be coming to a multi-academy trust wide supportive learning environment, characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic (and down to earth) leadership team. We have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people. We would encourage applicants to visit the UKAT website to view the many employee benefits on offer: www.universityofkentacademiestrust.org.uk/careers-with-ukat

Further details about the role

Your application should be made after reading the job description and person specification and you will use your application to tell us how your current skills and experience fit the requirements and why you think you would be suited to this role.

We are keen to attract top talent to our inclusive Trust and therefore we welcome applications from all people across the community spectrum regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, sexual orientation, disability, gender reassignment or age.

Commitment to safeguarding

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service
(DBS).

In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search, once, as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
