Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge and experience in Key Stage 3/Key Stage 4
Experience of working successfully as a team member
Experience of a team approach to problem-solving
Experience of working with young people in schools or similar settings
Experience of working with parents/carers to support the needs of young people
Skills & Key Criteria
A commitment to raising standards for all young people
Ability to prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, including tact and diplomacy
Ability to motivate and manage young people of all abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with adults and young people including through written and verbal communication
Ability to work sympathetically yet purposefully with challenging young people
Ability to take initiative
What the school offers its staff
Trustees are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor for Academy 360 with effect from July. This full-time role is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the new Principal, Mr David Amos, to cover whole classes during the short-term occasional absence of a class teacher. You will have a passion for inspiring young people to achieve and play a key part in ensuring the continuity of students’ learning.
In May 2022, Academy 360 was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted where pupils were recognised as being ‘aspirational and committed to their studies’. Leaders ‘show a strong moral purpose’, have established an ‘ambitious curriculum’ and are ‘inclusive in approach and want the best for all pupils’. Academy 360 holds the prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) and is recognised as a Centre ofExcellence. The school was recently recommended for Flagship Status acknowledging its exceptional culture of inclusivity.
Academy 360 is an All-Through Academy providing education for pupils aged 4-16 and is a member of the Laidlaw School Trust (LST); LST is a growing family of schools helping to transform the lives of young people through inspirational education. LST invests heavily in staff training and development, offering a wide range of opportunities and benefits to support both career progression and personal wellbeing.
The successful candidate will join a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) with schools from across the North East, including Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
