Salary: Band C - Full time equivalent salary range: £24,702 to £27,334 per annum

Actual salary range for working 35 hours per week, term time, is £20,032 to £22,167 per annum

Hours of work 8:30am - 4pm, 35 hours per week

39 weeks per year - term time and all inset days, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

We currently have a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our professional team of Cover Supervisors who provide stability and continuity for students whose lessons are affected through short-term teaching staff absence. The primary role is to ensure a continuation of our students’ learning by maintaining a positive classroom environment that enables all children to make progress in their learning. You will need confidence, with the ability to inspire and enthuse our students, so that they maintain their learning in the absence of their regular teacher.

The post is ideal for someone who wishes to pursue a career in teaching and wishes to gain further experience in the workplace or someone who enjoys enabling students to learn and wants to play an integral role in supporting teaching and learning in school.

Full training will be provided for someone who has the ability but not the experience of the role.

The key responsibilities for this post are as follows (a comprehensive job description is available):

Delivering learning activities that have been set by the teacher in accordance with our school cover policies and expectations.

Creating and maintaining a positive and well-ordered classroom environment.

Accurately recording student attendance to lessons.

Rewarding students hard work through established school systems and in accordance with school policies.

Collating completed student work as indicated by teacher request in the cover work.

Lunchtime supervision.

Preparing materials and classroom displays.

Undertaking other duties including co-curricular activities.

To act as a First Aider within school (full training will be provided).

Qualities required:

Experience of working with young people.

Good interpersonal and organisational skills to lead planned lessons, with the ability to relate to young people in our school.

Adaptability and flexibility and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Confidence in implementing behaviour management strategies.

Highly organised, showing a proactive not reactive attitude to the role.

The ability to work independently or as part of a team.

To be confident in the use of the school SIMS system, Microsoft Office and Google docs.

The school has an excellent record of success at GCSE and A Level:

GCSEs - In summer 2024, the school’s Progress 8 score was +0.64, with an Attainment 8 score of 57.51, which shows the excellent attainment of our school. 68% of our students achieved a grade 5 in both English and Maths, with 82% achieving this at grade 4. More than 40% of the GCSE grades awarded were grade 7 and above, with 23% being awarded at grade 8 & 9.

A Levels - In 2024 students achieved an average grade of a B. Our average points score of 39.85 demonstrates the excellent outcomes that our students achieve. 40% of grades awarded were A*/A and 69% of grades awarded were A*- B.
